At the Annual General Meeting in 2002, ESOPRS decided to offer travel grants and mini-fellowships to young scientists. The purpose of travel grants is to enable young contributors from Eastern European Countries to attend and present at ESOPRS meetings. The purpose of mini-fellowships is to provide some funding to allow candidate members without access to sufficient other funds to visit departments to increase their skills or research activities in plastic and reconstructive eyelid, orbital and lacrimal surgery.
The applicants have to meet the following requirements:
Travel grants
1. 35 years of age or younger
2. Living in an Eastern European Country
3. The application has to include the submission of a paper or a poster to be presented at the next ESOPRS meeting
4. The presentation must have been accepted by the programme committee
Study grants (mini-fellowships)
1. Candidate member of ESOPRS
2. A written confirmation of a full member of the Society to host the applicant for a defined period of time (minimum two weeks)
3. A short curriculum vitae of the applicant including information concerning present status of education in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery
4. The application should include brief details of the anticipated costs of the mini-fellowship and how these will be met
Applications have to be sent to the secretary; the travel grant applications additionally must be copied to the local organizer of the next Annual Meeting.
These grants are limited to a specific number of persons to be fixed at the Committee Meeting every year. An amount of 1000,- Euro is provided by the Society for each colleague accepted.
