ESOPRS 2024 Christmas Reflections

As 2024 draws to a close, we reflect with pride on an extraordinary year filled with progress, collaboration, and shared achievements, all made possible by the dedication and passion of our remarkable community.

This year, we celebrated the 42nd Annual Meeting of ESOPRS in Rotterdam, which attracted an all-time high number of attendees. This event yielded a strong financial result, which will be reinvested in future educational initiatives for the benefit of our Society and its members.

Another significant milestone in 2024 was the publication of the long-anticipated two-volume ESOPRS book in May, a comprehensive resource that stands as a testament to our commitment to advancing knowledge in our specialty.

Looking ahead, we will focus on two initiatives for 2025 and beyond:

  • ESOPRS-Supported Cadaver Courses: These hands-on courses will provide invaluable training opportunities, emphasizing practical skills and surgical innovation.
  • ESOPRS educational online platform: designed to provide members with access to a wealth of resources, training modules, and opportunities for continuous professional growth.

Additionally, we invite you to actively engage by submitting and discussing cases online through our online ESOPRS Forum, fostering real-time collaboration and learning within our community.

In 2025, we look forward to the ESOPRS Winter Meeting in Madonna di Campiglio (January/February), the WSOPRAS Meeting in Istanbul (April), the SOE 2025 Meeting in Lisbon (June) and the 43rd Annual Meeting of ESOPRS in Prague (September).

As we celebrate the season, let us also take a moment to reflect on those less privileged, particularly individuals living in conflict zones or challenging circumstances. The spirit of the season reminds us of the profound impact we can have as a global medical community by sharing knowledge, offering aid, and fostering hope.

We extend our heartfelt wishes to you and your loved ones for a joyous and peaceful holiday season. May 2025 bring health, happiness, and success in all your endeavors.

Thank you for being an integral part of ESOPRS. Together, we will continue to reach new heights in advancing ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery and supporting those in need.

Warmest holiday wishes,
On behalf of the ESOPRS Council,
Dion Paridaens,
President

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
