Dear colleagues and friends of ESOPRS! It was a pleasure to host the 38th annual ESOPRS meeting in Hamburg! The meeting was attended by over 700 colleagues from 61 nations over three days. Prof. Dr. Med. Charles Beyer-Machule passed away peacefully on July 9 after a brief illness. He was born in Berthelsdorf, Germany on June 4, 1927 and is survived by Janice, his wife of 38 years. After completing his preliminary degree in Biochemistry at the University of Göttingen, Germany, Prof. Beyer-Machule received a scholarship from the Institute of International Education as a graduate student in biochemistry at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where he subsequently he obtained his M.D. degree... read more

We congratulate our new ESOPRS members, who were accepted at the 2019 ESOPRS Annual Meeting in Hamburg. There are seventeen new Full Members, one International Member, seven Associate Members and six Candidate Members, giving a total of 31 new members.

During these unprecedented times, with much of Europe in lockdown, we find ourselves in unchartered territory and unable to treat patients. Many of us now need to think innovatively about how we manage our patients and our practices. During the last Annual Meeting of ESOPRS in Hamburg it was decided that the Israeli Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (ISOPRS) is formally associated with ESOPRS as a sister society. ESOPRS has many active international members from Israel and the Councils of both societies were keen to formally collaborate in scientific events in the future.
