Purpose
The authors propose an alternative to surgical treatment of ectropions and entropions in elderly people who do not want or cannot have access to the operating room.
Methods
Material and method: for more than four years, the authors have been offering treatment with the CO2 laser to put the eyelid back into good position in ectropions and entropions with results that meet patients’ expectations.Around a hundred patients were treated.
Results
Discussion :For ectropion, there is no recurrence. On the other hand, for entropion, in certain cases if the hypertonia of the orbicularis is significant, we may note recurrences which require new treatment. The authors describe their technique which is even feasible with an argon laser.
Conclusion
Conclusion :The treatment of ectropions and entropions affects elderly patients and the laser fully addresses this problem.
