“A facelift for the brow”: Subcutaneous Browlift

Purpose
To present our experience & results using the subcutaneous plane of dissection for brow & forehead lift and highlight the main advantages & disadvantages of the procedure, with special reference to a comparison with endoscopic browlift.
Methods
A retrospective analysis of results from 60 browlifts performed at Magrabi Eye Hospital, Abu-Dhabi, UAE, during the years 2022-23.
Inclusion criteria: Patients with brow level below the superior orbital margin.
Exclusion criteria: Brow ptosis due to previous facial nerve palsy. Patients with altered brow position by tattooing.
Technique: a video will demonstrate the procedure.
Patients have been followed up at 2 weeks, 1 month, 6 months & 1 year. Comparing in lid position & contour are compared using measurements at 3 points along the brow while maintaining corneal diameter of 1.5cm.
Results
More than 53/60 reported an overall satisfaction. The procedure showed a stable lift over 1 year period in 47/60 with a limited lateral lift. Few complications were found (11/60) with 3/60 required reoperation.
Conclusion
“The perfect Brow &forehead rejuvenation technique is yet to be developed”. The subcutaneous approach was found to be a safe, effective & adaptable approach with few complications.
