Purpose

To describe a rare case of bilateral eyelid steatocystoma.

Methods

Case report.

Results

A 41-year-old female presented with a history of palpable masses on the bilateral upper eyelids that had been slowly growing for a few years. Physical examination revealed non-tender, light yellowish cystic nodules on the both eyelids and mild ptosis of the right eyelid. Computed Tomography imaging of the orbit showed a 1.6cm lesion abutting medio-superior aspect of right eyeball, and a 1.0cm lesion abutting medio-superior aspect of left eyeball. We performed excisional biopsy of the eyelid masses through the lid crease approach. The pathological diagnosis was steatocystoma. There was no local recurrence during the postoperative follow-up.

Conclusion

We experienced a rare case of steatocystoma simplex that developed on the both eyelids. Based on our results, steatocystoma simplex should be considered as a differential diagnosis of a solitary cystic eyelid tumor.
