Purpose
THE PRESENT STUDY AIMED TO PROVE THE ACTION AND EFFECTIVENESS OF THE USE OF SMART MULTI HIFU, WITH THE PUNCTUAL SCANNING APPLICATOR, TO INDUCE COLLAGEN, REDUCTION OF ADIPOSITY AND LIFTING, AIMING AT PROOF OF EYE AREA REJUVENATION, FOCUSING ON TISSUE OF
INFRAORBITAL LAXITY.
Methods
ONE PATIENT WAS SUBMITTED TO A SINGLE SESSION IN TARGETING THE RIGHT EYELID USING SMART GR® HIFU EQUIPMENT; THE LEFT EYELID WAS PRESERVED AS A CONTROL AREA. THE RIGHT EYELID WAS TREATED WITH A SPOT CARTRIDGE AND THE FOLLOWING SETTINGS: ENERGY 3J, FREQUENCY 3HZ, DEPTH 1.5MM, TOTAL QUANTITY OF POINT 300, SPEED OF 1S PER 4 CM. AFTER 29 DAYS OF THE TREATMENT, THE UPPER EYELIDS OF THE VOLUNTEER WERE REMOVED BY BLEPHAROPLASTY SURGERY AND QUANTIFIED IN 10 DIFFERENT AREAS: INFLAMMATORY CELLS, TYPE OF COLLAGEN FIBERS, IN ADDITION TO THE IMMUNOHISTOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF THE PRESENCE OF FIBROSIS, NECROSIS MARKERS AND MACROPHAGES. FOR STATISTICAL ANALYSIS, THE MANN WHITNEY TEST WAS USED.
Results
THERE WAS AN INCREASE IN THE INFLAMMATORY PROCESS AND NEOCOLLAGENOGENESIS (P=0.0079 AND P=0.0238); ADIPOSE TISSUE DEGENERATION (P=0.0317); 93% OF THE TREATED TISSUE PRESENTED TYPE I COLLAGEN WHILE ONLY 25% WAS PRESENT IN THE CONTROL AREA. FIBROSIS (KI67 MARKER) WAS DETECTED IN TREATED
TISSUE (P=0.0079); PRESENCE OF APOPTOSIS (CASPASE, P=0.0235); MACROPHAGES (CD68), P=0.0159 AND PRESENCE OF NECROSIS (TNF ALPHA) WITH P=0.0079.
Conclusion
THE THERMAL ACTION OF THE SMART GR® HIFU MICRO-FOCUSED ULTRASOUND PRODUCES INFLAMMATION, TYPE I COLLAGEN, FIBROSIS POINTS, ADIPOSE TISSUE APOPTOSIS AND NECROSIS, RESULTING IN THE LIFTING EFFECT, WITH THE USE OF A SPOT MOVING APPLICATOR.
