Reflections on the 40th ESOPRS Annual Meeting in Nice

After two years of pandemic, with one ESOPRS meeting cancelled and one held virtually, we finally had the opportunity to see each other again face to face in Nice for the 40th ESOPRS Annual Meeting. The excellent scientific program combined with the opportunity to personally share clinical experiences, have lunch and dinner together, dance and share memories made this year’s Annual Meeting a great success. We had over 700 participants from 65 different countries that attended the scientific meeting... Read More

Obituary – Bruno FAYET

Bruno FAYET February 1st, 1954 – August 18th, 2022. We would like to share the very sad news of the sudden death of Bruno FAYET on Friday August 18th, 2022. Bruno FAYET, MD, FACS, was undoubtedly among the very best French lacrimal surgeons we have known. First resident, in the eighties, at Paris University Hospital during five years, he then attended a four-year fellowship at the Hôtel-Dieu under the leadership of the well-known Professor Yves POULIQUEN, Member of the Académie française. During this time,... Read More

Dear colleagues,

We cordially invite you to the 17th Beyer-Machule course, advanced training course for plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids – on-site. The course will take place from November 24th to 26th, 2022 in the eye clinic of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich.

The interest in plastic-reconstructive and aesthetic surgery in ophthalmology remains high. The Munich “plastic course” meets this interest and offers colleagues from clinics and practices the opportunity to get to know the principles and proven surgical procedures of plastic-reconstructive eyelid surgery and to deepen their own knowledge.

Renowned experts will share their knowledge and experience with you. Practice-oriented and detailed presentations of relevant surgical methods – supplemented by videos – will make it easier for you to plan and successfully carry out interventions on the eyelids and periorbita.

As in the pre-Covid period, the practical exercises to introduce suturing techniques and simple eyelid plastics in the sense of a wet lab on the animal cadaver will continue on Saturday morning. This part is intended for getting started with your own manual work and also has only very limited capacities.

Sufficient time is provided for questions and discussion. An industrial exhibition with specific products will complement the course.

The working group for plastic-reconstructive eyelid and orbital surgery at the eye clinic of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University is looking forward to your participation and wishes you an interesting conference, stimulating discussions and nice days in Munich before Christmas.

University Prof. Dr. medical Christoph Hintschich, FEBO

ESOPRS 2023 Winter Meeting
(click title for more info)

Our next ESOPRS meeting is the Members-only (Full and International) Ski Meeting in Andorra, that will take place on March 9-11, 2023 in Soldeu-Grandvalira.

We have chosen the ***** Sport Hotel Hermitage & Spa as our venue because it is located right at the bottom of the FIS World Cup slopes and has the main tram attached to the building. Grandvalira has over 210 Km of World-class slopes that are all connected making it possible not to ski on the same slope twice in a day. The three hotels in the complex are all connected to the same amenities, including a fabulous spa area and a Michelin star restaurant.

To choose from the wide variety of rooms available, best is to use Booking.com. Otherwise you can call (+376870550) or email (reserves@sporthotels.ad) the hotel before November 3rd and choose one of the blocked rooms for ESOPRS. Most importantly, please email me at: secretary@esoprs.eu once you have booked your room so that we can plan the scientific meeting accordingly.

I look forward to seeing you Andorra!

Dan Georgescu, MD, PhD
ESOPRS Secretary
