Purpose
To Compare Efficacy , Complications and Patient
Satisfaction between Conventional technique and
Fixed-Periosteum technique Direct Brow Lift
Methods
20 eyes were randomized to undergo the conventional technique
(10 eyes) and the fixed-periosteum technique (10 eyes). Outcome
measures include assessing postoperative brow height at 2 weeks
(suture removal), 3, 6, and 12 months, as well as comparing patient
satisfaction scores, scar assessment using the Vancouver Scar Scale, and
postoperative complications such as numbness, decreased brow
function, infection and hematoma.
Results
The mean change in brow height compared with 2 weeks post-op was
similar between the two groups at 3 months post-op (2.1±0.88 mm in
conventional group and 1.7±1.06 mm in fixed-periosteum group) and 6
months post-op (3.9±1.6 mm in conventional group and 2.6±1.17 mm in
fixed-periosteum group). However, at 12 months post-op, mean change in
brow height was significantly greater in the conventional group compared
with the fixed-periosteum group (4.88±1.46 mm in conventional group
and 3.25±1.39 mm in fixed-periosteum group) (P-value 0.047*)
Conclusion
Fixed-periosteum technique provide long-lasting brow
position more than conventional technique at 12 months
postoperative. No different brow height in 3 and 6
months follow-up period. No differences in operation
time, patient satisfaction score , postoperative scar and
post-operative complications between two techniques.
