Purpose

Local and regional anesthesia techniques are less used in extended orbital surgeries, offering effective analgesia and akinesia with fewer systemic side effects compared to general anesthesia
These methods are particularly advantageous for elderly or medically compromised patients, as well as for procedures where rapid recovery and reduced hospital stay are desired

Methods

Video presenting local anaesthesias transconjunctival approach for orbital mass excision

Results

64 year old male present with hypglubos and proptosis.
Large tumor removal was done locally anesthetized transconjunctival lateral orbitotomy surgical approach.

Conclusion

Local and regional anesthesia are effective and increasingly preferred for many orbital surgeries. They provide safe and reliable anesthesia, especially for patients who are poor candidates for general anesthesia, and are suitable for a wide range of orbital procedures from fracture repair to even extensive surgeries like exenteration in selected cases.
