Purpose
Understanding the relationship between congenital ptosis and ipsilateral hypertropia
Methods
160 cases of congenital ptosis were examined on oculomotor function
Results
Oculomotor examination is normal in the primary gaze when
Hypertropia is present and only in the upgaze, in more than 50% of congenital ptosis cases , it is ipsilateral to ptosis
Conclusion
Congenital ptosis has been classified as a localized myopathy but neuronal innervation is a fondamental prerequiset
We believe that congenital ptosis within the possible mechanisms can be more likely a congenital innervation dysgenesis syndrome
