Purpose
Anophthalmic syndrome is a symptom complex associated with the absence of the eyeball in the orbit, cosmetic defects, immobility of the prosthesis, drooping of the upper eyelid and drooping of the lower eyelid.
The purpose of this work is to increase the efficiency of the anophthalmic correction method syndrome by means of lipofilling of tissues of the orbit and periorbital area.
Methods
Methods. We collect adipose tissue from the subcutaneous adipose tissue of the lower legs departments of the front abdominal wall by liposuction. Fat centrifugation fabric at 500 rpm for 2 minutes. A cannula with a diameter of 1 mm and with a 1 ml syringe, we introduce purified adipose tissue into the planned area of the orbit (extra- and intraconal) and eyelids. Insertion depth up to 3 cm. Volume: 3.5 ml + 30% hypercorrection.
Results
The results. Since 2021, correction of anophthalmic syndrome has been carried out in 9 patients, which developed with and without the use of orbital implants. Evaluation of the results was carried out after 3-6 months by exophthalmometry, MRI of the orbits with volume assessment, photography, measurement of the distance from the edge of the upper eyelid to the crease and the distance from the center of the pupil to the edge of the upper eyelid. In all cases, it was possible to achieve reduction of depression, alignment of the position and improvement of mobility of the ocular prosthesis, reduction of height and filling of the orbito-palpebral furrow, which improved the aesthetic appearance.
Conclusion
Conclusions. The use of the lipofilling method of the orbit allows to achieve better functional and aesthetic results, and is not a complicated and minimally traumatic method.
