2026 ESOPRS Educational Stipends


ESOPRS is proud to announce the opening of applications for three educational stipends for the 2026 academic year. Designed to support excellence in the field of ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery, each stipend provides €10,000 to a qualified trainee.

These grants are specifically for qualified trainees who are currently in fellowship training, or are applying for fellowship placements within the European Union.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

To ensure the highest standard of training and safety, all applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. ESOPRS Membership: Applicants must be an ESOPRS member, FEBO certified, or demonstrate a clear commitment to a career in oculoplastic surgery.
  2. Professional Status: Must be a board-certified ophthalmologist or a final-year resident (full licensing required before the placement begins).
  3. Host Acceptance: A formal acceptance letter from an ESOPRS-accredited host center or a center approved for the stipend track.
  4. References: At least one reference letter is required (two are recommended). For current residents, one letter must be from your Head of Department or Training Director.
  5. Training Plan: A one-page training plan outlining specific objectives and expected activities aligned with your chosen track.
  6. Language Proficiency: Sufficient command of English or the host center’s primary working language.
  7. Compliance & Insurance: Ability to meet all host-country requirements (visas/registration) and provide proof of professional indemnity and health/accident insurance.
  8. Safeguarding: Willingness to provide a certificate of good conduct (criminal record check) as required by the host organization.
  9. Reporting: A commitment to submit a one-page end-of-placement report and a signed logbook extract upon completion.
