The Organizing and Scientific Committees of the 37th Annual Meeting of the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS) can look back on a very successful event, organized –for the first time in the history of ESOPRS – in Bucharest.
Focusing on functional and cosmetic (minimally invasive and surgical) oculo-facial topics, the multidisciplinary program reflected the sustained work of internationally renowned and distinguished scientists and clinicians from 42 countries. The keynote and Mustarde lectures, together with the scientific sessions, e-posters and video presentations have provided an exceptional highlight on advances that impact both academic and private oculoplastic practice.
The Meeting was very well attended by approximately 600 participants from all over the world. The local organizers Dr. Dan Georgescu and Dr. Daniela Cioplean and their team have not only been organized an excellent scientific meeting, but also hosted very entertaining social events, including a welcome party in ARCUB and an unforgettable gala dinner in the Palace of the Parliament.
The local organizing team and the Council of ESOPRS were honored by the support from our sister societies with the presence of Dr. Tamara Fountain and Dr. Hunter Yuen, presidents of ASOPRS and APSOPRS, respectively, and the continued growth of partnership internationally.
We hope you enjoyed visiting our Meeting in Romania and we look forward to continuing our collaboration in advancing the field of oculofacial plastic surgery. Next year local organizers, Dr Ulrich Schaudig and colleagues, in Germany are already preparing the next Annual Meeting of ESOPRS, which will be held in Hamburg, 12-14th of September, 2019. More information on this event will be made available in the very near future.

As many of you will know, Tony bore a progressive illness over the past few years with characteristic strength, resilience, and commitment both to his family and his work. He was a great teacher, a towering authority in ophthalmology, and a true friend to us all.
Amongst his many contributions, Tony will be remembered for his colour atlas... read more
