Reflections on the 38th Annual Meeting
Reflections on the 38th Annual Meeting of ESOPRS in Hamburg 12-14th September 2019 and a glance at the ESOPRS Winter Meeting in Val d’Isere in January 23-25, 2020 and upcoming events
Over 700 colleagues from 60 countries attended the 38th Annual Meeting of ESOPRS in Hamburg. The feedback by various attendees was generally very positive, not only regarding the scientific sessions and the level of the various presentations, but also the venue and social activities. The keynote and Mustarde lectures were excellent, as were the moderated and interactive poster sessions.
The welcome party in the Blockbräu Brewery was memorable, and the social evening in the Emporio Tower, extended to a venue in the Reeperbahn, was a true highlight. Katharina Fegebank, Second Mayor of Hamburg and Minister for Science, Research and Equalities Hamburg, honoured the Council of ESOPRS and local organizers in the Town Hall, emphasizing the role of Hamburg as a city of science and knowledge.
Colleagues travelled from all directions to the beautiful harbour city Hamburg. Here, Uli Schaudig, Sylvia Green, Pegah Heidari and Matthias Keserü, supported by the efficient team members of Interplan, had worked very hard to make us feel welcome. The good balance between presentations on functional oculoplastic, lacrimal and orbital surgery and talks on cosmetic facial surgery as well as the generally excellent atmosphere at ESOPRS Meetings underlie the high number of attendees from all parts of the world. ESOPRS has a tradition to organize their Annual Meetings in alternating locations in Europe. If a Meeting is organized in a northern European country in one year, the next will be taking place in a southern country and vice versa. Therefore, we are happy that a team of local organizers in Naples (Italy), led by Diego Strianese, will host the 39th Annual Meeting of ESOPRS! In following years we will travel to Rotterdam, Nice, Prague and Cascais!
For our members, we will first organize an ESOPRS Winter Meeting in Val d’Isere, France, from January 23-25, 2020. Please go to www.valdisere-congres.com or contact local organizer Olivier Galatoire via firstname.lastname@example.org
With kind regards from the Council members of ESOPRS,
