ESOPRS 2025 Christmas Reflections

The year 2025 has been a year of significant progress and consolidation for ESOPRS. We were privileged to hold an excellent Winter Members’ Meeting in Madonna di Campiglio, as well as a highly successful Annual Meeting in Prague, both of which were marked by outstanding scientific quality and strong member participation. In addition, the EBO–ESOPRS Fellowship Examination was once again conducted with great success, continuing to establish itself progressively as a key component of our educational framework.

ESOPRS continues to place great value on international cooperation. We are pleased to confirm that strong and active collaborations with SOE, ICO and are being maintained with our sister societies, ASOPRS and APSOPRS. Furthermore, ESOPRS is looking forward to actively collaborate  with the African Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery supporting educational initiatives and fostering professional growth within the region.

Looking ahead, the ESOPRS Winter Members’ Meeting will take place in Åre, Sweden, from the 18th to the 22nd of March 2026, offering further opportunities for scientific exchange and professional interaction among our members.

Furthermore, the ESOPRS Annual Meeting will be held in Estoril, Portugal, from the 10th to the 12th September 2026. As part of the Annual Meeting programme, the EBO–ESOPRS Fellowship Examination will also be conducted in Estoril.

We are also pleased to inform you that the requirements for the ESOPRS Study Grants will be published shortly. Further details will be made available on the Society’s website in due course.

In terms of Society governance, we would also like to inform members that ESOPRS has recently transitioned to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation structure. This change is being accompanied by a review and update of the Society’s organisational framework, resulting in a revision of the ESOPRS Bylaws. The updated bylaws will be shared with all members in due course and will be submitted for discussion and approval at the General Assembly.

Members are kindly encouraged to consult the ESOPRS website on a regular basis to stay informed about updates related to courses, meetings, and other educational and scientific events organised or endorsed by the Society.

In closing, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all members for their continued engagement and support. I wish you a pleasant holiday season and every success in a healthy and prosperous New Year 2026.

Yours sincerely,

Miguel González-Candial MD, PhD, MS.
President
