Severe Dog Bite Trauma to Eyelids and Face.

Purpose

To present a case of an 11year old female who was attacked by a pit bull, suffering severe trauma to the eyelids and face. Surgical anatomy of the eyelids and face will be reviewed. Systematic and creative techniques required for functional and cosmetic surgical reconstruction will be presented .

Results

Excellent results can be obtained with a strong knowledge of facial / eyelid anatomy and surgical techniques .


Conclusion

Surgery for complex dogbite injuries may require a combination of procedures including full thickness margin repair, canalicular anastomosis, medial canthal tendon plication, lateral nasal wall repair and cheek reconstruction.
