Mustarde Keynote Speaker
David Verity
PHD
Mr. David Verity is a Consultant Adnexal Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. Trained in ophthalmology in the UK, he undertook Fellowships in oculoplastics before his appointment as Consultant to Moorfields Eye Hospital in 2004. In 2009, he was elected to the Orbital Society, and between 2011 and 2018 was Editor-in-Chief of the journal ORBIT. With 150 publications in ophthalmology, he is an active national and international teacher and surgical trainer.
He has held numerous leadership positions within the specialty, serving as President of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society (BOPSS) from 2019–2023 and as the immediate past Treasurer of the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS). Additionally, he is the co-Editor of the Society’s comprehensive oculoplastics textbook, published in 2024.
Mr. Verity has contributed to the humanitarian work of the St John Eye Hospital Group since 1985. In 2009, he published a genetics doctorate on Behçet’s disease in the Middle East, for which he was awarded the Iris Fund Millennial Award in 2000. In 2015, he founded the St John Ophthalmic Association to unify healthcare experts around a humanitarian teaching platform and, as a Trustee of the Hospital Group, served as Chair of clinical governance.
In 2018, he was appointed Hospitaller of the Most Venerable Order of St John of Jerusalem (a UK Royal Order of Chivalry), and in 2021 received a chivalric knighthood. Working with colleagues in Israel, in 2024 he was appointed visiting professor to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Recently, reflecting service in geopolitically difficult regions, Mr. Verity was honoured in the 2026 Ophthalmology Powerlist.
Mr. Verity continues in his efforts to serve colleagues and patients in the Middle East where his interest in ophthalmology first began over 40 years ago. He is greatly honoured to be invited to give the 2026 Mustarde Lecture to ESOPRS, an organisation which provides hope and inspiration to colleagues and patients across Europe and beyond.

Antonio Augusto V. Cruz
Ph.D
Antonio Augusto V. Cruz completed his medical degree at the Fluminense School of Medicine from 1971 to 1976. In 1985, he earned his Ph.D. from the Ribeirão Preto School of Medicine at the University of São Paulo. In 1989, he received a postdoctoral fellowship to conduct research at the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, USA. During the two and a half years he spent in Boston, he was an observer in the oculoplastic service directed by John Shore at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Since 1992, when he returned to Brazil, he has devoted himself full-time to research, surgery, and clinical practice in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery (oculoplastics). In 1995, he was appointed Full Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Ribeirão Preto School of Medicine, University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP).
In 2012, he was appointed Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University to lead the Oculoplastics Service at the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He returned to Brazil in 2015 to resume leadership of the Oculoplastics Service at the Hospital das Clínicas of FMRP-USP.
He has currently published 267 international articles indexed in PubMed and 33 book chapters. In 2021, he was honored with the James Katowitz Award by the American Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS).

Guy Ben Simon
MD, MHA
Prof. Guy J. Ben Simon, MD, MHA, is Head of the Orbital, Ophthalmic Plastic and Lacrimal Surgery Institute at Sheba Medical Center and Professor of Ophthalmology at Tel Aviv University. He completed his medical training at the Hebrew University, with advanced fellowship training in oculoplastic and orbital surgery at UCLA and the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, and holds a Master’s degree in Health Administration. Prof. Ben Simon has authored over 130 peer-reviewed publications, serves as editor of the Atlas of Orbital Imaging, and is an active member of leading international ophthalmic societies, including ASOPRS, AAO, and the Orbital Society. He has held key leadership roles in Israeli oculoplastics, organized major international meetings, and is widely involved in clinical, academic, and humanitarian initiatives worldwide. He is a sought-after keynote speaker at international meetings, with main interests in orbital imaging, lacrimal and reconstructive surgery, thyroid eye disease, orbital tumors, and complex eyelid and facial rehabilitation
Alice Goh
MD
Dr. Alice Goh is a board-certified, fellowship-trained oculoplastic surgeon and a recognized leader in cosmetic eyelid surgery and facial rejuvenation. A dual-fellowship recipient from the prestigious Samsung Medical Center (Seoul) and the Jules Stein Eye Institute (UCLA), she bridges international surgical standards with cutting-edge aesthetic techniques.
As the Founding Chair of the Malaysia Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (MSOPRS) and an Executive Council member of APSOPRS, Dr. Goh is a pivotal figure in the advancement of cosmetic eyelid surgery in Asia. She is widely recognized as the creator of MINEL (Minimally Invasive Eyelid surgery), a specialized skin-preservation upper blepharoplasty. A sought-after international speaker and Treasurer of MSAM, Dr. Goh currently leads her private practice in Kuala Lumpur, where she remains a staunch advocate for minimally invasive techniques that prioritize both functional integrity and natural aesthetic harmony.
Robert Alan Goldberg

Robert Alan Goldberg MD FACS was born in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Stanford University in 1979 with a major in Psychology, and completed his MD degree at UCLA School of Medicine in 1983. His Residency in Ophthalmology was at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA, under Bradley R. Straatsma MD, finishing in 1987. He was a Fellow in Orbital and Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery under Norman Shorr, MD at the Jules Stein Eye Institute. A rotating second year fellowship in Orbital Oncology included time with Jack Rootman MD, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and with John Wright MD at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, England.
He is holds the Bert Levy Endowed Chair in Ophthalmology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Under his leadership as Chief of the Orbital and Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Division, the Division has developed the careers of multiple faculty members, established Centers of Excellence in Orbital and Aesthetic surgery, and has become recognized nationally and internationally for leadership and innovation in education, research and clinical care.
He is an enthusiastic educator. At UCLA, he is involved in medical student and resident education and has taken leadership roles in resident education including long service on the Residency Selection Committee. His ASOPRS fellowship is widely regarded as one of the best in the world; graduates have gone on to leadership positions in academic Ophthalmology both nationally and internationally. He has been a leader in Continuing Medical Education as well: the UCLA based teaching courses that he directs have helped to educate thousands of national and international physicians who have come to UCLA for advanced cadaver and didactic courses, and he continues to direct teaching courses nationally and internationally including a prominent role at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and ASOPRS meetings.
Dr. Goldberg has been highly recognized and cited for his creative work in Oculofacial Surgery. His 250 publications in the field include papers that span the discipline, from surgical technique, clinical studies, anatomic investigations, multicenter clinical trials, and therapeutics. In particular, his work in Graves disease and in orbital vascular tumors has changed the management of these disorders. His anatomic studies and surgical technique papers have had wide influence on the practice of the Specialty. Editorials, book chapters and textbooks have had significant influence as well. His research interests include surgical and medical treatments for Thyroid Related Orbitopathy, small incision approaches to orbital and oculofacial surgery, dacryocystorhinostomy, and orbital imaging.
He is a leader of his discipline nationally and internationally. His leadership has included Presidency of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the board of the California Association of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and service on multiple editorial boards of major peer review journals including section editor for Oculoplastics and Orbit for the AAO’s ONE website. He has given keynote and named lectureships across the globe. His awards include the AAO Lifetime Achievement award, the Lester Jones Anatomy Award, and the Henry Baylis award from the ASOPRS.
His clinical practice has a reputation for innovation and highest quality patient-centered care, and attracts patients from around the world. He is particularly known for orbital decompression and reconstruction, deep and complex orbital tumor surgery, advanced eyelid reconstruction, and aesthetic surgery complication management.
Dr. Goldberg is married to Jan Takasugi MD, his medical school classmate and Chief of Surgery at the Kaiser West Los Angeles Hospital in Los Angeles. They have 2 children: Kevin, a professional jazz musician, and Gina, a freshman at Jefferson Medical School. Hobbies include piano, running, golf, electronics including cameras and computers, and drawing.
William Katowitz
MD
William Rocamora Katowitz, MD is an Associate Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine and an attending surgeon at the ‘Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia, Scheie Eye Institute, and Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is fellowship-trained in oculoplastic, orbital, and lacrimal surgery and pediatric ophthalmology with advanced subspecialty training at CHOP, the University of Pennsylvania, and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
Dr. Katowitz’s clinical practice and academic career focus on complex pediatric eyelid, lacrimal, and orbital disease, including congenital ptosis, craniofacial syndromes, orbital tumors, vascular malformations, thyroid eye disease, and nasolacrimal disorders. He serves as Fellowship Director for the ASOPRS Fellowship in Oculoplastics at CHOP and UPenn. In 2025, he was appointed Director of Oculoplastic Surgery at the Edwin and Fannie Gray Hall Center for Human Appearance.
An internationally recognized educator and speaker, Dr. Katowitz has delivered hundreds of invited lectures worldwide and has held leadership roles in major ophthalmic societies, including ASOPRS, NASAOS, and the Orbital Society. He is a prolific author with extensive peer-reviewed publications, textbook chapters, and editorial board appointments, and is widely regarded as a leader in pediatric oculoplastic and orbital surgery.
Daphna Landau
MD
Daphna Landau is the President of the Israeli Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (ISOPRS), and an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology in Tel Aviv University. Prof. Landau holds an MD from Tel Aviv University and a BSc in Mathematics with Computer Science from the Technion. Prof. Landau is a graduate of the prestigious Technion Program for Excellence and the Talpiot Sheba Medical Leadership Program. She completed two advanced fellowships in oculoplastic and orbital surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and at Sheba Medical Center, where she currently serves as a senior consultant at the Orbital, Ophthalmic Plastic & Lacrimal Surgery Institute. Prof. Landau is the founder of the Pediatric Oculoplastic Clinic and the Ophthalmic Genetics Clinic at Sheba Medical Center. Prof. Landau has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications, serves as editor of the Atlas of Orbital Imaging, and has organized and chaired major national and international meetings in the field. She is widely involved in clinical, innovative, academic, and humanitarian initiatives worldwide.
Ilse Mombaerts

Ilse Mombaerts graduated magna cum laude as bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Leuven, Belgium in 1985, graduated summa cum laude as Doctor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Leuven in 1989, qualified in Ophthalmology at the University Hospitals Leuven in 1993, took a clinical and research orbital fellowship at the Orbital Center Amsterdam (1992-1996) and received a PhD on Orbital Pseudotumor at the University of Amsterdam in 1996. She is founder and director of the Orbital, Lacrimal & Eyelid Unit at the University Hospitals of Leuven and Professor in the Department of Neurosciences at the Catholic University of Leuven. Her scientific work focuses on orbital inflammatory disorders, anophthalmic socket syndrome, lacrimal outflow surgery, and extraocular muscle tissue engineering, on which she has authored peer-reviewed papers, contributed to textbooks, and participated in international initiatives aimed at improving guidelines in the management of patients with these conditions. Prof. Mombaerts serves on the editorial board of Clinical & Experimental Ophthalmology and Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Milind Naik
MD
Dr Milind Naik is working as an Ophthalmic Plastic Surgeon at the LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad since 2001. He obtained his Ophthalmology training at the Christian Medical College, Vellore, India. Thereafter, he pursued Fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery at the LV Prasad Eye Institute, India and Orbitofacial Plastic Surgery International fellowship at the Stein Eye Institute, University of California, Los Angeles.
His areas of interest include Aesthetic and Facial Plastic Surgery, Thyroid Eye Disease, and Minimally Invasive Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery. He is currently the Vice President of the Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Dr Naik has over 240 peer-reviewed publications, and is on the Editorial Board of several journals pertaining to Ophthalmic Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery. Dr Naik loves creative surgery, and teaching. He also loves cycling, painting, and Origami.

Geoff Rose

Geoffrey Rose graduated BSc Pharmacology (1976), in Medicine (1979), and is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (1982). During ophthalmic training he received Fellowship of the Royal College Surgeons (1985) and Royal College of Ophthalmologists (1988). He gained a University of London MS doctorate (1989) for original research, and was later awarded the highest academic accolade of Doctor of Science (2004).
Professor Geoffrey Rose was appointed to the consultant staff at Moorfields Eye Hospital in 1990, has been Director of the Adnexal Service, and is now an honorary consultant to the hospital. He lectures widely, has presented various named lectures, and received the Lester Jones Anatomy Award from ASOPRS (of which he is honorary fellow). Professor Rose is a Senior Research Fellow of the Biomedical Research Centre at the Institute of Ophthalmology, London, and is a Past-President of ESOPRS and a Past-President of BOPSS.

Angelo Tsirbas

Dr. Angelo Tsirbas is a renown Oculoplastic Surgeon with a distinguished background. He trained in Australia and then worked in NYC and Los Angeles for many years. Since returning to Australia Dr. Tsirbas has narrowed his focus to Aesthetic Surgery. Dr. Tsirbas is sought after by patients from around the world for help in correcting some of the most challenging complicated cases with his innovative surgical techniques. Dr. Tsirbas popularised modern endoscopic lacrimal surgery in the ophthalmic and Oculoplastic community. He published the early use of robotics in Ophthalmology 20 years ago. He developed surgical techniques in the 1990’s that are still used around the world today. His work now specialises in obtaining the finest and most natural results for Cosmetic Oculoplastic Surgery.
