Facial endolaser performed prior to blepharoplasty to treat sagging

Purpose

The aim of this video is to demonstrate the facial endolaser technique performed before blepharoplasty to help rejuvenate the eyelids and face, in the same surgery.


Methods

The Endolaser was performed with a diode laser with hybrid wavelengths of 980 and 1470 nm. The fibers used varied in thickness from 400 to 600 microns. The laser firing speed was 1cm per second and with parameters described in the table. The laser was fired in a “fan” manner in a retrograde manner, aiming to cover the entire region of skin that surrounded the delimited area.
Used power: Forehaed 2J, eylids 1J, face 2J and neck 5J


Results

By photographs observed a reduction in skin sagging, an improvement in the contour of the face, and a reduction in static wrinkles on the forehead, periocular region and glabella. In most patients, satisfaction was reported as quite satisfied. They answered a questionnaire about satisfaction and complications.


Conclusion

Endolaser is already a well-established method for treating sagging, reducing wrinkles, improving collagen and skin elasticity, improving scars, and improving some skin changes, such as acne and rosacea scars.
That is why the endolaser protocol was included at the time of blepharoplasty in order to optimize results not only in the eyelid area, but also in the periocular region and face.
It was observed that a large percentage of patients had a very high level of satisfaction with the procedure and that they would even undergo this procedure again according to the questionnaire.
It was also observed that there were no severe complications, most of which were mild, those commonly reported in the literature: mild pain, mild edema and nerve paresis, which resolved completely after 8 weeks. These rates were lower than those described in the literature.
There were no cases of redness, erythema or burning.
