Risk factors: fair skin, history of significant sun exposure, age >50, majority Male .Location: lower eyelid 60%, medial canthus 20%, upper eyelid 15%,lateral canthus 5%Main cause: chronic ultraviolet (UV) exposure.
Methods
Four patients with basal cell carcinoma of the eyelids of various localizations were admitted to the Department of Oculoplasty and Neuro-Ophthalmology of the S.V. Malayan Ophthalmological Clinic.Depending on the size of the tumor and its anatomical localization, various surgical excision techniques are employed, followed by immediate reconstructive procedures.
Results
Clinical case №1: Male, 76 years old ,հistory of neoplasm for about 5 years․D.S:OS Neoplasm of the medial canthus. Surgery type: neoplasm excised with 2 mm margins and defect reconstructed using autologous tissue. The sutures removed after 2 weeks. HPE-BCC, nodular type RxClinical case №2:Male,70 years old, հistory of neoplasm for about 7 years․D.S:OD Neoplasm of the lower eyelid.Surgery type: neoplasm excised with 2 mm margins and defect reconstructed using autologous skin graft from the inner side of the arm.HPE-BCC, combination type R0.The sutures removed after 1 week.Clinical case № 3:Male,49 years old, history of neoplasm for about 7 years.D.S OD Neoplasm of the lower eyelid .Surgery type:neoplasm excised with 2 mm margins, defect reconstructed using Hughes procedure, eyelids separated 8 weeks after surgery.HPE-BCC, nodular type R0.Clinical case № 4:Male,65 years old, history of neoplasm for about 10 years.D.S OD neoplasm of the lower eyelid.Surgery type:neoplasm excised with 2 mm margins, defect reconstructed using autologous tissues with transposition and lateral canthotomy. HPE-BCC nodular type R0.Sutures removed after 2 week․
Conclusion
BCC-most common eyelids malignancy with slow growth, locally invasive and destructive. The most effective treatment method is surgical removal of the neoplasm with simultaneous reconstruction of the eyelid using various techniques.
