We are sad to announce the sudden loss of two or our most senior and revered lacrimal surgeons, Professor Jeffrey Jay Hurwitz (Canada) and Professor Sergey Shkolnick (Russia). Jeffrey Jay Hurwitz Professor Hurwitz, International Society of Dacryology and Dry Eye (ISD-DE) Councillor, passed away on 4th February 2022 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Canada, where he had been the Ophthalmologist-in-Chief for over three decades. John Wright -- known affectionately to colleagues as “JW” -- was born in May 1933 and, with clouds of war brewing over Europe, he was evacuated and spent much of his childhood in North Wales. The Executive Council of ESOPRS is happy to announce the future collaboration of ESOPRS with theSouth African Society of Oculoplastic Surgeons (SASOPS) as partner societies. SASOPS was formed in 2004 and held its first standalone annual meeting in 2007. Members of SASOPS are ophthalmic surgeons who have a keen interest in and perform oculoplastic surgeries. During the last Annual Meeting of ESOPRS in Hamburg it was decided that the Israeli Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (ISOPRS) is formally associated with ESOPRS as a sister society.
