After two years of pandemic, with one ESOPRS meeting cancelled and one held virtually, we finally had the opportunity to see each other again face to face in Nice for the 40th ESOPRS Annual Meeting. The excellent scientific program combined with the opportunity to personally share clinical experiences, have lunch and dinner together, dance and share memories made this year’s Annual Meeting a great success. Inna Vladimirovna Sasim was born and raised in Baranovitsji, a small town southwest of Minsk in the former Sovjet state of Belarus. She passed high school with high marks and studied medicine in Minsk with just as good results. Like her older sister, she specialized in ophthalmology and became a staff-member in Hospital 10 in Minsk. We are sad to announce the sudden loss of two or our most senior and revered lacrimal surgeons, Professor Jeffrey Jay Hurwitz (Canada) and Professor Sergey Shkolnick (Russia). Jeffrey Jay Hurwitz Professor Hurwitz, International Society of Dacryology and Dry Eye (ISD-DE) Councillor, passed away on 4th February 2022 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Canada, where he had been the Ophthalmologist-in-Chief for over three decades.
