Reflections on the 43rd ESOPRS Annual Meeting in Prague
Dear colleagues and friends,
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us in Prague for the 43rd Annual Meeting of the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery! With over 940 participants, this was one of the largest gatherings in ESOPRS history. We are especially grateful to our local organizers, Vladimir Kratky and Adam Kopecky, for their outstanding efforts in hosting us at the beautiful Smetana Hall (Municipal House).
The scientific program of both the Pre-meeting Course and the Main Meeting was enriched by renowned speakers and lecturers from four continents. The content was diverse and balanced across functional and cosmetic topics. This year’s Mustardé Lecture, delivered by Dr. Peerooz Saeed, offered a unique and inspiring perspective on the resilience of the optic nerve.
The social events were equally memorable and very well attended. The welcome reception at Marina Ristorante showcased spectacular nighttime views of the Vltava River and its bridges. The gala dinner, held in the breathtaking 190-year-old Žofín Palace, featured a traditional Czech dinner alongside a mesmerizing light-painting performance by young local artists. The evening concluded with folk dancers, a cover band, and a lively DJ set.
On September 10, 2025, Prague also hosted the third EBO-ESOPRS Exam. Of the four candidates, two successfully passed: Maria Mas Castells and Yoon Tze Lai, presented during the meeting by Miguel Gonzalez Candial. We extend our sincere thanks to the Exam Board (Michele Beaconsfield, Andrea Papp, Santiago Ortiz Perez) and all examiners for their tremendous work in establishing and running this exam. The next exam will be held on September 9, 2026, in Cascais. Further details are available at www.esoprs.eu.
With the wonderful memories of Prague still fresh in our minds, we now look forward with great anticipation to our upcoming meetings:
